Married to Dr. Ananda Venkatachalam, PhD and mother of a 14-year-old son, and an 11-year-old daughter
Holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine from Pondicherry University, India, and a Master’s in Veterinary Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine from G.B. Pant University, India.
Worked as a Veterinary Assistant Surgeon for 2.5 years in the Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Pondicherry, India
Over the course of 14 years at IMV Inc., a Cancer Immunotherapy Company in Halifax, Progressed through various Pre-Clinical and Clinical Research roles, eventually becoming the Manager of Clinical Translational Research. Currently part of the Cardiology Research team at the Nova Scotia Health Authority, contributing to medical research that benefits the community.
Launched Tamil Language Classes for children and a community engagement program to assist newcomers in settling into Nova Scotia.

Members of the Tamil community gathered in Halifax to celebrate Tamil Heritage Month. Dozens attended an event that was filled with food, festivities, and traditions celebrating Tamil culture.

Strengthening Relationships between Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) and Tax payers: By improving communication, enhancing access to services, and ensuring greater accountability, we can foster a more engaged and informed community, effectively addressing the concerns and needs of taxpayers.
Enhance Traffic Flow and Reduce Congestion: Implement innovative strategies to alleviate traffic during peak hours, making our roads safer, reducing congestion, and helping residents spend less time commuting.
Improve Public Transit: Collaborate with transportation authorities to increase public transit frequency, reliability, and expand routes, making it a more convenient and accessible option for all areas of our district.
Revitalize Recreational Facilities: Invest in upgrading existing recreational centers and explore opportunities to develop new facilities with enhanced amenities, promoting health and wellness for all residents.
Foster Direct Dialogue with Residents: Commit to regular in-person meetings with residents to listen to their concerns, understand their needs, and collaboratively develop effective solutions.

It is a privilege to live and work in Mikma'ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi"kmaq People. This territory is covered by the "Treaties of Peace and Friendship," first signed by the Mi'kmaq and Wolastogiyik (Maliseet) peoples with the British Crown in 1725, which recognized their title and established an ongoing relationship between nations, reminding us that we are all Treaty People.
